Frequently Asked Questions About Stump Removal

If you can’t find an answer to your stump-removal question, call Grinder Stump Removal in Lyman, SC, now at (864) 485-5544.

  • How much will it cost for stump removal?

Generally, the stump(s) and the site need to be reviewed to give a quote. Our minimum charge to bring equipment to your site and perform grinding is $150. The minimum charge will generally cover a single stump that measures ~30” diameter at ground level or a few smaller stumps. Additional stumps ground at the same time are less expensive overall.

  • Are you insured and licensed for stump grinding?

We are fully licensed and insured.

  • What do you do with the chips produced from stump grinding?

Generally, the chips are used to fill the hole back in. Excess can be spread and rough graded in the immediate area or piled in the area. Customers can opt to have the debris loaded, hauled, and disposed of for an additional fee. This should be approved prior to the crew’s arrival to begin the job.

  • How much debris will be produced from stump grinding?

It is difficult to be sure how much wood is below the surface. You can typically expect the amount of debris (mulch mixed with dirt) to be 3 to 4 times the size of the stump that was above the ground. Unlike other stump removal companies, if you have any debris left and do not have it removed for the additional charge, we will level it out with a Bobcat at no additional charge.

  • Will you be able to get to my stump?

During the quoting process for stump grinding, Grinder Stump Removal will evaluate your site access. A minimum opening of 36” is generally needed for the equipment to pass through. A fence panel may need to be removed for access if there is no gate to a fenced yard. In other instances, ramps may be utilized to reach different elevations.
